"After two years of struggling, two years of testing costing tons of money, two years of frustration due to numerous miscarriages, I was referred to Dr Landon Agoado by a friend (who he helped get pregnant in a similar seemingly hopeless situation) and now all I can say is if it wasn't for his compassion, spirit and Traditional Chinese Medical knowledge, we would have given up. Good thing we didn't! I just gave birth to a 6lb 5 oz beautiful boy who was just named "Landon" so we never forget the Angel he has been to us."
Before you make the decision to use fertility drugs like Clomid, or doing an ART Procedure (Assisted Reproductive Technology) like IVF, you might want to look into trying Acupuncture and Herbs, an alternative but very viable option. And Acupuncture is not just for women. For men there is strong evidence showing acupuncture's ability to increase sperm count, while improving motility and morphology percentages.
Just how does acupuncture help in treating infertility in women? Acupuncture has shown to be very effective in improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries. This helps primarily with the implantation of embryos (which is especially important for women doing IVF). Acupuncture also promotes timely ovulation and an ideal luteal phase. It also raises levels of stress coping hormones (cortisol & prolactin) when it is applied before ovulation. By decreasing stress, the chances of fertilization and implantation increase.
By far the number one goal of acupuncture in fertility treatments is the regulation of menstruation and ovulation. That means striving to achieve an approximate 28-30 day cycle with a smooth flow, without large clots and without excessive cramps. Acupuncture also strengthens your ovulatory function, improving blood flow and building a high quality uterine lining. And, as previously stated, acupuncture has been shown to encourage implantation of the embryo.
So, in summary, acupuncture is very good for your overall reproductive health. In recent clinical trials, acupuncture has been shown to significantly increase conception rates and decrease miscarriage rates. Acupuncture resets your circadian clock, reduces stress, helps you release endorphins, and adjusts your endocrine system. It also rids the body of any underlying inflammation and boosts the immune system. Acupuncture also has minimal side effects, and with a good acupuncturist, is virtually pain free.
In our clinic, we have seen much success treating infertility issues including:
As specialists in the treatment of reproductive enhancement, we recognize that every person and couple having difficulty conceiving needs individualized treatment, since no two people present with the exact same condition. With that individualized approach, Acupuncture treatment can be an effective means to aid conception in most cases of infertility.
This very much depends on each couple's individual situation. We've seen success anywhere from the first cycle to 9 months later. Most patients (men and women) need approximately 3 months treatment to find success. Studies have shown, however, that some couples will succeed at the 6-9 month mark, as it can take that long for their cycles to be fully regulated and ready to conceive. For women, consistent treatment is important so specific hormonal adjustments can be made at each week of the cycle using Acupuncture and herbs. Every week is a significant opportunity to heal a particular segment of the four-phase menstrual cycle (menstruation, follicular phase, ovulation, and luteal phase). For male factor, a typical course of 10 weeks can do the trick, as it usually takes a full sperm generating cycle (72 days approx).
Remember that trying to get pregnant is a statistical game. The more you try, naturally or with Assisted Reproductive Technologies (IVF/IUI), the better your chances are. This applies to Acupuncture as well - the longer you allow it to correct and balance your body, the better your chances are. Unfortunately, there is no quick path when it comes to conception and full-term pregnancy of a healthy child, but it's well worth the wait!
